steering drifts now...
99 ram 2500 4x4 cummins
I noticed that my ball joints were going out a few months ago. The lower left one was the worst and would kind of pop when I turn or go over a bump or something. I decided to have it fixed rather than do it myself (didn't have all the necessary tools, i.e. press). I also had new tires put on at the same time (bigger and meatier 285/75/16's). So, $1000 later, i get my truck back and the steering has a lot of play in it (the wheel can rotate a good 20 degrees and the tires won't do anything). I had a friend do this for me while I looked under my truck and notice that the shaft connecting the pitman arm to the gear box wobbles side to side. Also, what I think you guys call the track bar (has ball ends) seems to be loose and wobbles around. Its a couple hundred dollars I think to fix each one, but I don't know where to start. Because of the side to side wobble in the gear box, i was told that adjusting won't help (thinks a bearing is shot or something). Should i try that anyways? I could probably attach pictures to show exactly what I'm talking about if that would help anyone to help me diagnose my problems.
Thank you very much in advance for any help.

I don't think there is an adjustment for that , sad to say , you need a new steering box my friend. Put on a DSS stabilizer as well , to prevent that from happening again.
The track bar can be saved with a lukes link, or replaced with a new one , or you can upgrade to an 03 style with a kit from DSS.
