Starting Woes :(

Merry Christmas, Hanika (sp)... all!
Today 12/23 I replaced the blower switch in my rig. I pulled the dash panel as needed, un-hooked the map light wire, as well as the round plug for the start-up sequence panel.
Once the new blower switch was in, and I had the plug for the start sequence board in, and the map light hooked up etc, I went to start my 93 W250 - No start? The dash map light works, the abs, water, starting sequence display works etc. I am stumped here? The truck ran about a week back, started no problem! I drained the fuel filter a bit, and still no start. The battery is charged. The starter is good. I am thinking blown relay (starter relay) or fuse? I checked under the dash, and all the fuses appear to be good. The wire under the fuel pump is connected. I know some have had a no-start problem with this wire being un-plugged.
Anyone know what relays etc. I should check under the hood? I doubt a bad blower switch could cause this, in the event that NAPA sold me a bad switch? TIA!

PS- When I hooked the pos terminal on the batt back up, after working behind the dash, the light switch on the dash was out. This happed when I took the dash panel out, to replace the blower switch. I am thinking that maybe with the headlights comming on as soon as I hooked the pos bat terminal back up, I blew a relay somewhere?

Check your fuses under the dash and the fusible links under the hood. It is possible that while you were playing around behind the dash panel, you touched a hot wire against some metal and grounded it.

I do not know what the hook ups or terminals on your battery look like, but maybe when you disconnected the battery, you loosened one of the main wires going to the starter. I would actually check the wires too the starter at both ends first.

Actually, I guess I should ask, does the truck crank at all, or is it just dead when you turn the key?

You could always try switching those three main relays on the fender. They are all the same. There was a thing about those earlier and I think we settled on one was the ASD relay, one was the WOCT relay (A/C) and one was the Starter relay.

Hope this helps and Merry Christmas.

Ira,
Thanks for the reply! No the truck does not crank at all. I have a screw off **** on the pos side of the batt terminal. So when I need to do some electrical work, I just unscrew the **** on the pos batt post. I could have grounded out something while I was working behind the dash? I am betting that I killed the starter relay. I will probably swap one of the adjacent relays, to see it that's the trouble. Thanks much for the input! Merry Christmas to you as well Hard to believe it is already Christmas eve tomorrow

Try starting it in neutral instead of park.

Dave, thanks for the link! That's a pretty good guide. I printed it out. I just went to Advanced Auto's site, and punched in starter replay. This is what they show. Doesn't look correct? Here's the url: http://tinyurl.com/yas9kx

Bronco,

Not sure if this is related to your problem, but it may help to read this thread.

Today I found out the starter relay is not my starting problem. I put in a new relay and no-start I looked at the fuseable links under the hood, and they are all fine. I am leaning towards a bad ignition switch?
I have new contacts for the starter, so I figured I would pull the starter and replace the contacts. I got the first two starter bolts off fairly easy, however, the last one on the bottom is a bear!!! For those of you with an auto trans (A518 in my case), how do you remove the bottom 10mm starter bolt? I am thinking one of those boomarang shaped box end wrenches (10mm 12 point)? Also, how difficult is it to replace the ignition switch? And lastly, which switch here: http://tinyurl.com/y6wda6 would I need to order for my 93 W250? TIA!
