starting problems
My rig will only start if its cold, once. it starts very easy the first time, but wont start again if i shut it off. it wont crank. all leads from the battery seem to be tight and in good shape. its a wiring problem and i dont know where else to look.
You need a load test on the system , go to shop , unless you want to buy test equipment .
You can only tell very bad connection by looking .
Do you have a multi-meter , and familiar with using ?

As john said, you need to do some tests. If u have a multi-meter you can do a voltage drop test. This will determine weather or not you have a good or bad connection or wire.
The basic idea of this test is to take a reading at the battery and at the other end of the connection, if the voltage is different(lower) anything under a 10% drop in voltage needs to be fixed or replaced.
Could also possibly be a bad ground.
Do you even hear the click from the starter?

test
if the dash dims when you go to start it, its the cable end at the battery post, remove and clean, or, check the starter solenoid, when mine failed, i could still engage it with the key in the start position, stomp on the floor, it would engage, check the small wire for positive current at the starter, in start, if a test light lights, starter needs the solenoid contatc cleaned, or replaced. (in sticky)
