Starting with out electrical

I need alittle insurance, I would to like to start the truck and be able to move it under its own power. Don't have all the electrical done.

Can I just put 12V to the fuel solenoid of the pump and to the starter just to make it run?

If not the solenoid

What is the other electrical connection of the side of my injection pump. I thought that was my soleniod. Was wrong verify wrong.

Also can you give me a quick run down on how my 91 non-intercooled injection pump works, or a link.

the solenoid you are looking for it right above where the lines come out of the pump- has two prongs on it. Run a wire to it, and it will run. If not, you need to dig deeper. The one on the lower left side of the pump is the KSb- cold start advance, and wont allow it to run.

12 volts to the fuel cutoff and starter and it will run. Nothing else is needed. I am told your ksb moves the timing on cold starts. I know it is not necessary to start the engine as I ran mine for 4 weeks without it. I believe you want to hook it up though for a permanent thing. I just wired my brain box in this past Saturday. I don't know if the ksb is doing anything right now since it is so warm here, but hopefully it will all work as the weather gets colder. Search "brain box" for wiring information that wanna posted in answer to my question on what the wires went to.

That's the KSB solenoid, as Jim said it advances the timing. The engine will run with it disconnected.

Take a look in the sticky at the top of this board, there is a good discussion of VE pump operation in there.
