Do the star wheels that everyone refers to adjust the fuel volume?(ie-rich-lean).If so how do i adjust them.I'm still chasing this engine knock.It seems to come and go.I filled up with sunoco yesterday and the knock got quite loud shortly after I got back out on the road. If the knock comes and goes it sounds to me that it is fuel related.Like a rich cylinder.

The star wheel controls the quickness of fueling in response to boost.

consider it the fine adjust, and hte plate is the coarse adjust on your power and smoke levels...

Can you tell a noticeable difference in adjustment of the star wheel alone ? Is it safe to do this without having gauges on an otherwise stock truck ?

Honestly no significant difference

You can do this without gauges, its not really that effective as compared to moving your fuel plate full forward, if anything and if you are lucky, the starwheel option might give u 3-5 more horses, and even at that i think its too much... You will notice just a little more pick up on the lower end, and a little more smoke when you take off.....

Thanks for the info about the star wheel.Are the delivery valves adjustable,and if so can they move or get out of adjustment?

That i know of..

No, the delivery valves just reside inside the pump underneath the injector lines on top of the injector pump. The valves that can get out of alignment are the intake and exhaust valves underneath the black valve covers. Those can be adjusted periodically, and if you rev excessively high often, you do need to adjust them..

Thanks Tx,I guess the next step is to put it in the shop and see if they can resolve this knock problem.I hate to spend the money if I don't have to,but i guess it's time to bite the bullet. Normht

If you've made mods,the star wheel can give you big jump in response.Our 97 used to be a pathetic dog off the line after installing a Banks PP with a new plate.Once we learned of, and adjusted the star wheel about 8 turns,the truck now jumps to life,off the line.
Like night and day..........

I used to have a banks powerpack

IN my truck, now i just run remnants of it, Ive said it before and ill say it again, Banks is awesome for towing and staying within the trucks reasonable limits, BUT you can have more power for less... I know... BUT i still run just a banks plate in my truck, and it seems to run well, and tow very well as well. No comparison to a 100 tho or a 0, but still a decent plate (like a six) for that matter....

Our truck is a rental equipment delivery vehicle, so a boost in power was needed to handle the day to day stuff,like 10,000lbs of tractor and trailer.The PP works perfect since were not "addicted" to more smoke and power, like would be the case for a personal vehicle! The truck sees many different drivers every day,which proves to be destructive enough without pushing the power furthur.....

You think the Banks git kit plate is like a "6"??
