Are there any other symptoms? White smoke, excessive black smoke? boost numbers? Pyro Numbers. More information would be helpful fuel pressure etc.

My first guess if he think its a fuel issue would be the overflow valve but it is hard to say without more info.

Yup, my little cummins does that same nasty thing too! Although it does it all the time, the rpm:s when idling is less than 500, about 400-450, and whenever i put it to Drive, it seems like the tranny would choke it.. But from what i've understood the tranny should be somewhat intelligent and understand not to put any pressure on the engine when not pressing the throttle?
Could anyone please explain to me how this stuff works? Could too much or little fluid in transmission be one factor?

Well, as you might imagine i'm quite a beginner when it comes to american automatic transmissions, but **** i like them! Beats any BMW any day!

yeah well forgot to say that it doesnt smoke or give out anything excessive, and the RPM:s are the same with AC on or off! Otherwise it runs like a dream, it just passes out if not given some throttle when in D..

Way too low, I like to see around 750rpm in drive with the ac on. Look around on the bottom of the back of the pump, you should see a bolt and a lock nut. Being double jointed will help, but thats where you adjust the idle.

Yep. Sounds like in both cases, the idle just needs to be bumped up. Takes a 10mm wrench, and 5 minutes.
