I am looking around for a 4" exhaust from the turbo back and I don't know which pipe to use on an '02 (last year of the old body) ext. cab w/ short bed? I have heard good and bad about both. Please help...

Also, which muffler is louder, the MagnaFlow or Banks? Both come in Stainless and Aluminized...

It's really all about how much you want to spend. Stainless is much more expensive and longer lasting than aluminized, the sound and performance is pretty much the same. Stainless is much " prettier " than aluminized. It's up to your wallet !!

The material to purchase really depends on where you live and how long you intend to keep the truck. T-304 is the most expensive material but for all practical purposes will never fail you. T-409 is slightly better then the factory stainless currently used on the newer trucks, it will brown/grey out and get some rust spots on it but will still give most folks a very long life. All of the T-409 systems include a T-304 muffler and all the welded hanger sare also T-304, we know that is where you will have a problem corrosion wise if you have one so we use the BEST material for these components so we knwo it will last. If you live is the northern areas of the country where a lot of salt and mag chloride is sprayed each winter then T-304 is going to be the material for you, if you plan to keep the truck very long that is. We do have aluminized but the pricing differences between T-409 and aluminized is less than $35.00 as an average so in my opinion I wouldn't even consider the aluminized no matter where you live, the small dollar difference is not worth saving.

sometimes cheaper is not always the best route to take i would go with the stainless if it was my truck

Now I'm really confused. "Pretty" under the truck? Plus, I don't see the aluminized ever giving up. That's the way to go.

Hey Cjaiceman, I'm looking at the same system, what's the difference in the muffler it comes with and the XL? Just the size? Thanks.

The XL is a resonated flow-through muffler, and the regular is just a performance diesel muffler. The XL is awsome, it gives the Cummins a DEEP "big rig" sound. The regular is just about the same, but not as deep. I would recommend the XL.
