ok guys i was wondering if anyone had any knowledge about how loud stacks are. i'm wondering because i have 3" all the way back and my cab is already noisy as hell. could anyone tell me if these things are obnockiously loud. if anyone has a pic with them on a 1stgen i'd like to see it because i'm not sure if i like a 1st gen with stacks.
also does anyone have any ideas for sound proofing the cab?

I had dual 5" mitre cuts on mine. I had 3" back to the 4" connector to the stacks. They are loud! With the windows closed or around town driving, they are awesome and I loved them. On the highway however, when the windows are open, you basically have a 5" tailpipe screaming in your ear. I do a lot of highway, so for me it got to be too much I went with a 4" all the way back instead ( I must be getting old). To quiet down the cabin I bought some of that sound deadening material out of any car mag. Works real well.

I recently met a 2nd gen with dual stacks, pulling a hefty trailer. It was loud, and had the same low pitched exhaust tone as a 18 wheeler. It sounded great. But, its a bit too much for me.

I had a strait 3 inch pipe to start with then I ran my stacks through the bed . I couldn't tell a difference in sound . So I ran a four inch strait pipe off the turbo still not much louder . So nothing much to worrie about. And I built everything on mine from the ground up I used a homemade smoke chamber to blow even smoke. But I bought my 5 inch stacks chromeroom.com cheapest price you can find em.

I have a 4inch turbo back exhaust, that used to dump out infront of the pass. side duals, and yes that was obsolutly obnoxious in the cab! I got my single (for now) stack on and the sound difference was, and is still ABSOLUTLY amazing! The cab is so quiet I had a hard time telling if it was running w/o looking at my guages. Im running a 5 inch turn out thats about 6-12 inches above the cab. A perfect look. When I got it all fabbed together and test ran it, it was about 2 feet over the cab, thats when I couldnt tell if it was running or not. I am a regular cab with a headliner, and rubber floor mat. I cut down the stack so it looked better and it did get a little louder. So stack height plays a HUGE roll in the interior decible dept.
Yes it can get loud outside the truck, but hey unless your town has a noise ordinance, or maybe ur be'n sneeky round town Who cares right?? Besides even with a stack u can be quiet too, depending on how u shift, but ive got a 5 speed too. I'll try 2 get a picture of mine today.

Actually, you're in the clear because my line is "If you think it might be too loud, it will be."
