with a lot of people running stacks now, i am yet to see someone who has stacks without a tool box to cover the stuff up. i am considering doing some stacks on my 97 LB, but dont want to have to have a tool box in the bed an lose all the space. anyone ever y piped under the bed then came up through with 2 holes?

If you do that you will see the pipes because there is no room between the bed and the frame

I have stacks and I'm not runnin with a tool box. Who cares how they look inside the box, they look sweet and sound cool from the outside. Not many people can see in the box anyway, and if they are lookin, they probly wanna see how to do it!

I have seen it done with 2x6 box tube under the bed and just the two stacks coming up through the bed. It was real tight but it can be done.

I personally think it is much easier just to bend up a nice diamond plate heat shield to cover the pipes in the bed.

I personally have a deezee tool box out of a ranger sized truck that another member had cut the bottom part of the toolbox that would be against the cab and filled it over and welded it back so that the toolbox goes over the stacks. Cant see the toolbox unless you look in the bed, covers the stacks and I can still get my fourwheeler in the bed with the tailgate closed. I can also store a few tools and ect in it.

I've thought of that, but I'd be real worried about all that heat setting right there on top of the plastic fuel tank...the top of my 2nd gen's tank actually sets a tad higher than the top of the frame rail.

A real shame too...I'd love to do that!

The stacks I used to have were chrome all the way to the Y-pipe. They looked really good in the bed and required nothing to cover them up. But don't leave a plastic bag in the truck because it WILL find the the stacks.
Plus nobody else I knew had them all chrome.

I think it will be a tight fit to put in 5in twin stacks y pipe under the bed. How would you get the 5in over to the driver side, under the bed. You can do it, but I think you will lose ground clearance. I would go with the y pipe in the bed. You lose some of your bed. I bought a set, but my wife and my short bed with a lack of room to haul stuff kinda killed the idea. I'm building a in 40 gallon inbed fuel tank and I don't want my fuel to be that close to the stacks. I tow so the stacks would get toasty warm some.

When I built my stacks I thought about doing that under the bed. My set up was gonna be more narrow than most but still when it came to measuring and checking under the bed, plastic tank next to 1250+ degrees.....no thank you.

I did'nt have a tool box in my bed and this is what I had....



took them off about a month and a half ago, loved the sound and all that, just with the business it was a bit much. Don't miss the soot or the ringing ears and the horrible vibration in the cab when I toted my trailer loaded with steel up a hillside.

People will rarely see inside the bed and like someone said, if their looking it's cause they want to know how you did it. The diamond plate box is a good idea, things will melt on those suckers.
