I always hear a blow out noise when I open the key and begin to start the truck before the starter starts spinning the engine.
It sounds like the pump on the drivers side inside the fender. Where the lines come out of a pump and go the the brake system.

What the heck is it?

My brother just bought a 2002 2 wd and it doesn't make the air plush noise release when you open the key.

Can someone relate.

Probably just your lift pump cycling before you start.

No its not the LP I hear the ratatatata of the pump until press is built up. \
The SSShh noise sounds like pressure being released right after I open key and wait for sart light to turn off before I trun key some more to fire up.

mine doesn't do that. and i've never heard any ratatat either. i originally misread the post and thought we were talking about opening a beer.

I work on a leet of B- vans (3500) and the ABS makes a noise similar to what you are describing. Kind of a whooosh gong type of noise. It is just the ABS going through its test .
