I have a squeek that seems like its coming from the dash of my "00" Quad 2500 2wd Auto that is driving me bonkers. It sounds like a monkey giggling in the dash somewhere. Does anyone have any experience with odd squeeks they HAVE found, and how did you get them to stop?????

try giving the monkey some bananas.

Other than that, find someone who specializes in monkey giggle interpretation, and have them ride along or drive, while one of you listens for the sound. I have found that dust on rubber or plastic, when combined with the slightest amount of movement against a stationary object, can result in what you are describing. My drivers door panel did this to me for the longest time, before I ran a cloth between the panel and the door shell. Wiped the giggling monkey's nose as such, no more problems.
Try any areas that you can think of, and see what happens.

The squeek in my truck that sounded like it was coming from the dash , turned out to be my can of axe deoderant that i had laying in the 4x4 shifter boot.

My 02 has the monkey also. Whenever I go on dirt roads or bumps it squeaks. It sounds like its coming from drivers side behind dash near where pillar/post tie in to main frame maybe. I dont know but wish I knew how to fix it. Its very annoying and is the only 'abnormal" noise I have in the cab.

You may think I’m nuts but try this. Raise the hood and spray some WD-40 on the bolts and at the seam that hold the front quarter panels on. This was the source of the squeak on my 91.

I also have the same monkey in my 02 auto. I discovered while going over the bumps and push forward on the shift lever (it sort of clicks forward) with firm pressure my squeek stops. I think it's in the linkage somewhere maybe in th column.

Anyone know if you spray WD40 down inside the column if it will do damage to the electrical stuff?

Thank goodness I thought I was the only Ram owner that has this problem!! Mine seems like it comes and goes, maybe I have just gotten used to it! I have looked everywhere and I cant seem to find the source!!

If you rest your hand on the shifter does the noise go away? If so see my picts for the cheap fix I've been using at work for years.

If your talking about spraying the shift linkage for an auto trans. Yup, best advice (well cheapest) I've read on here. Works great.

I have a squeek from what seems to be behind the glove box. I have driven down the road with a friend with his head under the dash and still cant seem to pinpoint it. My offer of a case of beer to whoever finds it is still on!

The picture Bill brought out of my photos shows what is on my truck. The piece of fuel line is long enough to hold tension (pushes apart) the linkage. Holding tension on it seems to help most of them. There is actually an updated part that achieves the same thing using a spring.

For the squeak behind the glove box, mine was really irritating. Turns out to be the A/C lines rubbing together where one of the clips go on to hold the evaporator. I dang near tore the dash out beatin and banging to get it to stop when all I had to do is raise the hood and turn the clip.
