Squeaky Brakes

All pads are good, no scratches on the rotors, but the brakes still squeak pretty bad until I touch the brake pedal. Tried brake cleaner on all corners, still squeaks. Seams to go away after 20 miles or so, either that or I just don't notice it anymore. Any suggestions?

Did you apply silicons on the pad backs?
Also, try chamfering the edges of the pad.

Take some 100 grit emery cloth and sand any glaze that has built up on the rotors - both sides. Also make sure the ears on the pads are held tight to the calipers. Sometimes you need to use a mallet to tap the ears tight to the calipers. I guess while you have it apart, you might as well put some stop squeel goop on the back of each pad.

I have the same issues. I narrowed it down the the rear pads and I tried everything from cleaners to removing the glaze, to gring the edges. No luck still squeeks under no braking slow speed. Pretty embarassing that the squeek is louder than the engine.

Embarrassing is right ! ! ! I take great pride in my ride, as with most of you guys. Squeaks really drive me nuts. I may just replace all the pads with non-life time guarantee units. Hopefully that will quiet the beast.

You're on the right track replacing the pads. Lifetime pads are too hard and besides squeaking damage the rotors.
