Springs vs Spacers

Ok I know what I want to accomplish about 2" of lift up front My H2s fit good but look overstuffed and want to make the truck look a little more finished. I am positive that I can be ok with the leveling pucks or spacers whatever you want to call them but how much better off would I be If I had the leveling springs installed as far as ride is concerned. I know that these trucks are not goig to ride like a caddy but would like to make it as nice as possible. What about cost. Les Schwab quoted me 250 for spacers installed. Would springs be comperable in price? Which will ride best? Also once this is done if I decide do do anything to the rear which is better a block or add a leaf? A lot of info just want an overview of pros and cons. Yeah if I was loaded I would get a KORE probably but I am not going off road racing just cruisin the ranch hunting etc. Another thing I saw was top gun customs twin shock adapter does this help the ride would it be something I might be interested in to help improve the ride? Remeber I am not going dune jumping or rock huggin just hunting My local suspension shop is not much help as he told me I could not run 35s with a spacer and I got them on with nothin so not much help there.

Thanks in advance

Les Schwab did mine and did a excellent job. aligned it afterward which is a must if you don't want death wobble. I have 35K on mine no problems what so ever. Just some advice. If you go with the spacers get new shocks- I went rancho RS9000 made a big difference on ride.

I highly recommend spending the extra dough to get a level kit like those offered by Lorenz and KORE. For $500 you get coil springs, Bilstein shocks and sway bar drop blocks. With spacers you'll end up spending about $250 by the time you add shocks and your sway bar will be in a less than desirable position. With the Lorenz and KORE kits the coils rates and shock valving will compliment each other making a better performing system. To me its worth the little extra cost.

Installation for both setups will be the same and any shop that works on suspensions can tackle it.

Very good advice. On my 97 1 ton I went the "spacer kit" route to save money... After you get the spacers and shocks you could've added a couple more bills and got a NICE quality ride. I swore to myself I'd do it right next time. I got new tires and they are rubbing more than my old wore out ones so I think it's time for a leveling kit. I really like the way it looks now tho.

So now do I go with Kore or who?

I have a set of Skyjacker D25 springs in mine, which I got the Gateway Tire near me to install and align it afterwards. I paid $140 for the springs and 60 for the install. 2 years later and everything is still perfectly fine. It also made the ride a LITTLE softer but hardly enough to notice. I'm very happy with it.

these are good points as realistically I should change out the shocks anyways I am not saving that much by using spacers especially if the ride will be better. how much should i epect to pay for the kore kit? lorenz is 505 bucks any others?

KORE is $565. Not sure if Sage Carli makes one or not. You can check out his stuff at www.theCarliSuspension.com and www.defianttruckproducts.com

None that I know of. Spring rates and shock valving may be a bit different but the basic components seem to be very similar.

kore and lorenz both tried to sell me a more advanced system all I need is a leveling kit in hopes of gaining heighth and if I am lucky improving ride at the same time i am not jumping it or racing everyday driving some dirt roads mixed in.

I believe either kit will work leaning towrds the lorenz since it is 60dollars cheaper and I can buy it from out of state so no sales tax should save me a hundred bucks

after that is in would just adding the billesteins to the rear make it ride nicer? lorenze has a nice video on their site and it shows me (non mechanic type) that it is the shocks doing most of the work

what would airbags in the rear do for me besides stiffen for a heavy payload can the help improve ride more less

anyother testimonies out there before I get this?

Yeah, replacing the factory shocks in the rear with Bilsteins will improve the ride a bit. They're not a cure-all but they are better than stock.

Airbags really won't improve the ride until your really loaded down. And actually, they could worsen the unloaded ride a bit. The bags always need to have at least 5 p.s.i. pressure in them. Sometimes this is enough to make the ride too firm.

I have the KORE HD Leveling kit with the Bilstein shocks and stabalier blocks. It is a good kit, was not that difficult to install. I also added the Bilstein shocks to the rear and have the Firestone Ride Rites. All in all these are a good combination. My truck rides like it did stock with a little more stiffness, I keep 5#'s in the bags unloaded. I put the leveling kit on to achieve level and have a nicer appearance with BFG 315's. I put the bags on to lessen the towing squat and slight body roll/pogo in front when pulling my bumper pull trailer on local mountain roads. It was much more prevalent towing bumper pull than my GN.
