spring time maintanance

I need to repack the front wheel bearings on my '98 1 ton, looks like a pain to get the dust cap off so i can get to to nut holding the hub on, is there anything special needed to get the dust cap off? , also need to drain the NV4500 trans oil, didnt see a drain plug, were do you drain the oil from?...Thanks for your reply...Lyman

A light touch with a beat up flat head screw driver and a ball peen and some pateince don't over think it. Don't mind the spelling.

repair vac/pwr steering pump seals. Clean the oil off the underside. Buy chip & injectors (strictly for maintenance you understand).

You'll have to remove the PTO cover to drain the lube. I don't know why they didn't put drain plugs in the Dodge version, all of the GM versions have them.

pull the pto cover clean out as much as possible. let it set over night if you can. the more old out the better. I know my nv5600 had a crappy magnet along the lip on the driver side dont know if you do. I bought a bigger square magnet for the bottom edge of the pto cover and put a filter on the pass side. geno's sells them they let you hold alittle extra fluid and catch alot of crap. use a fluid pump that sucks from your oil bottle seem alittle easier to get oil in this way. unless your 3 foot tall. being over 6 feet not alot of room.
