Speedometer not working

My speedometer has not been working for some time. I assumed that the sensor on the rear diff was defective, because the ABS and park lights are on too. I replaced the sensor, found and fixed a few breaks in the wiring harness, but it's still not working. Also, the new part from the dealer has the plug for the harness on the opposite side of the sensor (compared to the old sensor). Hopefully someone has come across this and can help. Thanks.
