What speed??
Seems that 70 mph is the magic number when driving without a load. Once you go over 70 mph the MPG’s drop fast. I’m towing about 9K-10K, is there a magic mph I should be driving below to give me better MPG.

Here are my hand calculated figures from my truck with the 10k 5th wheel in tow.
65mph to 68 mph - 10 mpg
62 mph - 11 to 12 mpg
60 mph - 13 mpg
A lot will depend on hills and wind but those are on fairly flat roads. We are headed out tomorrow and will be in no hurry so I plan on running 60 to 62 mph on this trip.

most trailer tires are only rated for 65 mph.
on another note anything over 55 mph drops your milege dramatically, thats one of the reason the speed limit was dropped to 55 during our first oil shortage.

When towing/hauling I find if I keep my boost below 10lbs I can get as good as 14MPG; typically this is 59-60 MPH. Any faster and my mileage drops quickly. Unloaded I experience the same...59-60 MPH with boost below 5lbs and I can get 22 (as high as 24). This with: 95,000 miles on the clock, free breathing exhaust and intake, Edge EZ out of the loop.

Agree. I drive by my boost and EGT's. If I'm in a hurry, I just set the cruise and don't sweat it.

If that is 101 kph then you would going 63+ mph. My truck gets the best mileage around 1800 rpm which is 58+ mph towing my boat, a 20' fiberglass CC with a large Yamaha outboard and 63 gallons of fuel on a tandem axle trailer. The profile of the boat is lower than my cab high camper shell. I bump the speed up to 65 mph and I see a substantial decrease in fuel economy.

My dually running 63 mph empty 21-22 mpg with the 5er hooked on drops to 17mpg not bad for an old GOAT with 230k on the clock and over 9 years old.
18-1900 rpm seems to be the sweet spot on a lot of the 24 valver's

This weekend I was pulling about 7500 pounds....Toyhauler. I was doing 60at 2400 rpm. I stayed in 5th gear....I got 11 mpg
On the way back...I kicked it up to 65...I will have to see what mileage I got.
What do you guys think about pulling in 6th gear?

Pulling in 6th is fine-- just don't lug the engine.
The minimum speed for 6th gear varies a lot with load, axle ratio, hills, etc.
I've pulled 6th from only 1500 rpm with a small car in tow.
I prefer to tow on the slower side-- not just for MPG but mostly for safety trying to stop extra weight.
60-65mph is a good towing speed with the taller axle ratio and 265 tires.
