Speaker Upgrades

want to replace stock speakers wit something better. Not intresed in volume as much as quality.
Have heard we are somewhat restricted because of the lack of depth room in doors?
any recommendations for good quality upgrade speakers? Fronts or fronts and rears? Seperate woofer without sacrificing storage area.

Now why the heck are you worried about speakers. When you wind up the engine, you can't hear anything anyway.

Not sure about the door speakers, but JL makes a sweet sub woofer that replaces the lower cushion in the center armrest. I installed an Alpine 60 watt head unit, with my stock speakers, (for now) and was suprised how much better they sounded compared to the factory radio/casette player. I am running ther JL sub with a JL amp, and currently have bass blockers installed on the factory speakers to help them live. I want to upgrade the speakers soon, but that "Hot-rod 44" pump is calling me. Peace MUrfman

Hi Murfman, would you happen to have a picture of that setup? I have been lokking for something myself and what you have sounds like a solution.

Thanks!!!

Get a set of 6.5" Component speakers with an amp. You won't hear anything nicer. Alpine Type R's are a good, not to expensive setup. Focals are REALLY nice.

Ma audio makes a 6.5" speaker that, with a little work, fits in the rear quite well.

MA65B is the model #

When I installed them, I filled the lower portion of the cavity with the fill a foam stuff, then did the same above the speaker to create a true box for them.

They sound great and I think I paid like $80 for the pair.

Hey Murfman, thanks for the link. That setup looks sweet!!!

I only have one problem. I have a 97 and it says these are for 98 & up.

Any idea if it would still work? If not, does anyone know of any other stealth sub boxes for the 97s?

Thanks!!!
Luis
