South Bend DD just installed...... But what the???

Installed the South Bend 3250 DD today wasn't to bad, But the truck when stopped and running and you go to engage the clutch when pedal is fully pressed it sounds like a jack hammer. Once you get to driving it the noise goes away until you stop again. Is this normal? Does that floating plate between the two discs kinda...well float? Or is it that I am in need of the hydraulic upgrade, which I thought but everyone said no. Some info would be nice plan on calling Peter in the morning. Thanks Chris

its normal.

with the clutch disengaged the disks rattle. has nothing to do with the intermediate plate. the intermediate has positive engagment to the pressure plate which it bolted to the flywheel. it can't rattle, just float.

You gotta be kidding. You should sell your truck and buy a ford escort.

That is the double disk rattle. You'll have it unless you get the spring hub version. No big deal, you'll get used to it.

Just wanted to let you all know that I talked to Peter and he explained everything to me on these DD. The center plate is supposed to rattle a little when you push in the clutch. To not get into a long explanation it's just kinda the nature of the beast but will help on not having excessive wear over time on these clutches. I guess the old non sprung DD were really loud from what Peter said. Anyhow thanks guys for the info and a special thanks to Peter and South Bend for the great service! A+

You can't hear the noise because of that sweet 12 valve rattle
