Sounds Funny
I noticed when I start my truck in the morning or after it has sat for more than a few hours that it sounds kind of funny when it starts. The engine sounds kind of flat but its only for a quick second then sounds normal, its not temp. related because it does this when its 80 or 50 degrees outside.New fuel filter, new lift pump good pressure, the truck was doing this before those items were replaced. ???

Re:Sounds Funny
I guess I need to add to this, when the truck starts it does sound crisp like it does when the engine is warm. There is no excessive cranking when cold or hot it's like it whats to run rough but it catchs itself. ???

Re:Sounds Funny
I think I may know what you are talking about..my truck does the same; sounds kind of flat and then after driving a block or so it seems to smooth out. I have always considered this to be "warming up." I have had gassers that pretty much do the same thing.

Re:Sounds Funny
Could the intake grind heaters not be working, I do not know if they are to come at a set outside temp. or do they work off of the coolant temp sensor. ???

Re:Sounds Funny
A diesel does not make full compression when they are cold. It takes a bit for the piston to fully warm and expand enough to bring the compression up enough to fully burn all the fuel. This is a normal condition.

Re:Sounds Funny
This is something that has just started, within the last 2 months. This is my second dodge and the first one never sounded like this.I think I need to stop calling this a sound it's more like a stumble right when it fires off but like i said its real quick then its fine.
