Soon to be owner, questions.

I've used the search method, but I'm getting mixed results. I'm looking at a 99 CTD 4x4, around $19,800/67,000miles. My questions is should I be concerned where the truck was put together? My other question is outside of bombing, will the A/T hold when used for light pulling approx 7000 lbs. I will most likely have the tranny gone through in time.

Hope to be a CTD owner soon. Thanks in advance for any replys.

Re:Soon to be owner, questions.

Make sure it's not the dreaded 53 block. Check this post: http://www.dodge-diesel.org/yabbse/i...threadid=19478
I have a 2000 3500 with auto pulling 8500lb 5th wheel. It seems to do ok. I'll be updating the tranny the first of next year, that seems to be the weak spot. There are some other things to be aware of and I'm sure others will be along to help.
Good luck.

Wow, that's scary.. I'll have to check the engine to see what number it has on it. The truck I'm looking at was made in the US.

I live in NC, I kind of thought their asking price was high . I haven't bought the truck yet. I guess they are will have to come off the price a bunch.

Re:Soon to be owner, questions.

i would check with your bank and see what the loan value is in your area.

also you can look at kbb.com, and edmunds.com to get an idea of what your looking at.

be patient, and dont get in a hurry.

good luck!

Re:Soon to be owner, questions.

I would not be too worried about where it was assembled. Most '99s were built in St. Lewis. I would look at the casting number on it. You will have the rest of the 100,000 warranty but my friends '99 cracked at 167,000 miles so he has no warranty to help. Also the price seems high, but they will probably come down on it.

Re:Soon to be owner, questions.

Hecho en Mexico here, and it's a great truck.

It doesn't matter where it was assembled... Just check out the known stuff-- lift pump pressure, tranny condition, "53" block, etc.

And yes, you can get them lower on that price for sure.
