Solid Motor Mounts?
Solid Motor Mounts?
Hey guys just bought a 1990 D250 Cummins 5-speed and it needed motor mounts and the trans mount wasnt even bolted in. Well I fixed that and put new motor mounts in it and the motor and shifter still torque up pretty bad. It must be a 2wd thing cause my other 90 is a 4wd and the motor nor the shifter move. Just wondering what you 2wd guys do to fix this problem and if there are any solid motor mounts i can put in. Thanks.
a chain in addtion to good stock mounts would probably be a good compromise.
Leave some slack in the chain so the engine can move a bit, otherwise you're just going to make it act more like a solid mount - and that won't be pretty ...

we got 5.9s in some forklifts in the army and they are solid mounted and i have seen them crack the block, break bolts, and one that puked up a rode. the rod was lake of oil not the mounts, but it was cool to see it keep on going tell it was shut down in my bay by the driver.
Poly Bushings For Diesel
I bought a pair of mounts from Autoworld Montana, before Spiva @ Polybushings was selling them, but I still haven't gotten around to putting them on the truck . . .

I put solid mounts on my 'Cuda running an engine that was balanced to 1/3 of a gram, and it was very noisy, even with hydraulic lifters. A chain will be very noisy. Making a torque strap out of a towing strap would be the best of both worlds.
Towing strap might work. Maybe ill do that for now and save up for the poly mounts and a poly trans mount.
