Soft shifting from 1st to 2nd.....

Did a search but couldn't really find what I was looking for and could use some help. My truck just recently just started shifting soft from 1st to 2nd almost like it was slipping from 1st to 2nd. It shifts normal for about the first 15min of driving but then starts doing the above. Any advice/theries would be greatly appricated. Right at about 60k on the clock and fluid and filter change done at 50K.

The bands probably need to be tightened. I think there is a 'how to' here somewhere... I'll look.

I'm not either! It's a place to start. Could be the TC, but that should affect you more when applying power, I believe.

Yeah gonna adjust the bands and replace the Governor Pressure Solenoid next week. hopefully that will solve the problem.

My Father in law's 03 was doing that at 11k, it was actually shifting from 1st to 3rd, 2nd gear clutches were gone. Bill Kondalay@DTT told me this is not unusual with the factory design. My 2nd gear and overdrive clutches were showing significant wear at 13k, I only had an Edge EZ at that point.

I hope that is not true in your case, Good Luck!

Yeah me too. But I know the truck is still hitting 2nd because it shifts normal for the first 15min of driving and I can tell it is still hitting 2nd but just really soft like its slipping in. After reading some I think it is the bands needing adjustment. Fingers crossed anyway.
