Snow Stage 2

Getting a snow stage 2 put on tomorrow at Widick diesel in Fremont, NE. I also already run propane on my truck and the guy at their shop told me I couldn't run methanol and propane at the same time because they essentially do the same thing and this would cause problems...What would these problems be?

But the main reason for putting the snow kit on is to run the water and cool my egt's so just wanting some more imformation on this.

Propane and meth are both fuels. I've read it isn't a good idea to shoot both at the same time but don't know why. Water and propane might work but I'd get some info from those who've done it or really know the physics of it. I do know that pretty much anything you inject IS going to raise cylinder pressure including water. Maybe that's why you shouldn't shoot more than one at a time. Then again, maybe I'm totally freakin' wrong...

I run water/methonal and propane/nitrous on a boosted car. The water/methonal is because it is a non-intercooled application. Nothing is wrong or dangerous mixing them together. You probably should start slow, maybe take some propane out and gradually increase both...sneak up on it so to speak. I believe your shop guy is wrong when he says they do the same thing. Sure the Methonal is a fuel too, but it's mostly for cooling. You could start with water only and then start slowly adding the methonal. Your only fear IMO is what trik396 was saying about pressure. At some point you can just put so much of anything/s in there
Mind you, I have zero diesel experience with the above.

Pressure is the huge difference in a diesel application. We are running 17to1 or more compression. We can have 40+psi boost. Nitrous adds more pressure and timing. Meth adds more pressure and timing. Water adds more pressure... You get my point.... something can give out on you if you keep adding the pressure with added timing...
Unless your boosted car is extremely radical beyond anything I've seen lately, I don't think it's pressures would be as great as a modifyed turbo diesel.

But it sounds like a wild ride...

Oh I agree. He needs to take it slow. I would take out half the propane and start slowly adding water only in the beginning. It also depends (like cars) if this is a driver or race truck. If it's a race truck/play toy he may need to see where the limit is. If it's a driver....well, it sucks to be on the side of the road

p.s. My car is a Viper with a 12lb screw blower, 150wp nitrous/propane and a lot of wtr/meth. And no...it probably doesn't get close to a performance diesel pressure.

Question for anyone...are there classifieds on this forum ? I swear I sold something here before and I can't find it now. I'm needing some stuff. thx

Yup. Very top of the page under the logo banner.

A viper with 15psi of boost, nitrous/propane, and water/meth? I SOOOOOOOO want a ride in that thing. It must be crazy fast.

3500lly, the meth will act as another fuel and combust just like the propane. Only difference being is that it might combust before the propane which might in turn combust the propane which could cause serious knocking which could blow something. Your starting to drastically raise cylinder pressures.

actually, Nitrous just adds pressure... you're increasing density a ton, but no fuel is introduced with the nitrous, so timing is not effected.

more food for thought....Nitrous is safer on head gaskets than Propane or water/meth!

even more food for thought....water/meth was good for 50hp on the dyno in my application. it was mixed about 70 water/ 30 meth.
