Smoke stack info??

The wife would like to put a pair of black stacks on the truck. Wondering what you guys suggest. Can i run 2 stacks behind the cab? Is there a DIY kit or something? Also is there something that will make the turbo louder. I have passed several trucks that seem like the turbo is so much louder than hers...the truck is a 02 2500 with the diesel.. thanks in advance for the info...

black cloud diesel makes kits for stacks and if you add a cold air kit and remove the silencer ring out of the turbo it will be louder

you can pc together a kit at your local truck shop.
I went to an international service shop and picked up a few adapters 90 degree elbows and some flex pipe.

Put together a nice single black 5" mitre cut setup.

all you got to do is pop the snap ring out and the silencer ring falls right out, the cold air just really sets it off as far as the turbo noise goes, only took me about 5 min to do

here is the site mentioned above, specifically the stacks page. the silencer ring is pretty simple but take your time as you do not want to damage the fins on the turbo. you will have to pull off the intake tube, once you do that look into the turbo. you should see a snap ring going around the inside of where the intake tube clamps on to. you have to pry up one end of it, i used a small flat head screw driver and once i got it up i clamped on to it with a pair of needle nose pliers and used the flat head to work around the ring. once that comes out the silencer ring will fall out. put it somewhere you wont loose it as some people decide to put it back in. once again BE VERY CAREFUL!!! and dont damage the fins. good luck and have fun!!

oh and yes it will still make the turbo louder with the stock airbox but it will be ALOT louder with a cold air intake.

some people will put something like "i cant believe its not butter" dishes over them. i have seen rain caps out there, not sure where though. or you could build a drain in the low spot on you exhaust...

I agree with all comments in this thread. The guys I know that have stacks just drilled a 1/8th inch hole in there lowest spot. Also Xtremediesel.com has a few dif brands of single and duel stack kits. And I cant remember if they have em on their site.. but I do know a few brands do make rain caps like big rigs have for the straight cut stacks.
My fav looking set up is duel 6'' chrome. Nothing looks better.

ok wat i did was i went to my big rig store and paid ten bucks for three feet of 5" flex pipe. i had a 5" 90* off a generator. then my bud had a 5-6" stack. i cut a hole in my bed with a 4" ko cutter then made it larger with a grinder. i painted my mitre cut stack with flat black header paint. for the rain i have to put a coffee can over it. i had to cut some slits in it for it to fit over my stack but they do make stack caps. this pic was before i added my extension pipe to make it stick above the cab.
