Smarty to be used to adjust speedometer on 98.5 12 valve?

I have a smarty for the 2nd gen 24v CTD. Can I use it to adjust the speedometer on a 98.5 12 valve? I have a friend that just went up 3 sizes in tires and he needs this done.

Anyone done it? Bob, do you know?

Thanks,

The tire size programming only stays with the truck as long as you have a Smarty program loaded, I believe it wipes out once you go back to Stock.

And I doubt it would sync up to the 12V, since the ECM would be much different and there would be no chance of programming it.

Even if the unit would communicate with the truck, Justin is correct... The ABS adjustment only works if you load a Smarty software, stock means stock.... not even the ABS adjustment stays.

Another thing to remember is that there is no 98.5 12v....only a 98. There is NO ECM on a 98 12v! Only a PCM to run the dash, charging system and auto tranny if equipped. So, there isn't even anything for the Smarty to talk to.

And that answers the question I had in the back of my mind when I posted.

Wasn't sure if there was no ECM at all, or just much different since it had no electronic injection pump to control.

Sorry about digging this up, but I just threw some H2 take-off tires & wheels on my 98 12v and now the speedo is waaaaaaay off (77mph reads 60!).

So if it's not an electronic change - how do you make the adjustment?
