Got a little money back from the IRS! I need to use it! I have been browsing the sight and narrowed it down to smarty and tst pm3. Smarty brings it on down low and the tst should bring on the power up high. Should I ditch the EZ i have and use the timing from smarty? What other stacks work well together, and what type of HP will I be getting with this combination?

I love both and recommend them together..... as long as you are aware of your trannys limitations.
IF you have the funds I would upgrade tranny first... as even the Smarty may test your stock tranny, if not driven sensibly!

Since the above is not the fun way to do it.... I would...
1-Smarty (sell the EZ)
2-upgrade tranny
3-add TST PM3
4-

With just Smarty your truck will feel like a 400 hp CTD...at least up to 50 or 60 mph.
With both you will be around 350 hp with great, adjustably power options for all driving scenarios!
Correction... maybe 440 hp with your injectors

Yes the tranny will need attention, but the wife has the philosophy "if it ain't broke don't fix it", I just need to come up with a good selling point for a DTT tranny. The only one I have come up with is, fry the tranny, then it is broke so then it will need to be fixed!

You could add the TST first to run with the EZ. Many folks make great HP with that combo. Now on the other hand the Smarty on my truck is great down low and I have a TST sitting on the shelf ready to go in soon. Some say that the Smarty can make less HP on the dyno if heavily modded, but no doubt about the fact that in the seat of the pant dept, it is awesome. I also have no doubt that the Smarty would pay big dividends on the drag strip or just in steet drags racing a duratampax. I think I'd want to go one step at a time starting with TST first and see how you like it. It may be all you want. If you want to add the Smarty, I'd hang onto the EZ until you get to test Smarty first and then make your decision as to which is the best combo for your needs. Good luck and keep us posted at to how you like it and the comparisons.

I don't think the Smarty makes less HP (than an EZ) with heavy mods.... but it is true you can't add HP figures together and come up with a trucks #.
I dynoed after changing from EZ to Smarty..... TST to TST Comp.... and 285 tires to 315's. Since
-the 315's are reported to cost 10+ HP and
-the COMP TST is reported to add 20-25 hp
-and assuming the smarty is same as EZ in HP
I was expecting to gain well less than 20 HP! I gained 21 HP.
This is not scientific data because I changed more than 1 thing at a time...but it tells me the Smarty is as strong or stronger than the EZ... on the dyno!

Regarding running a TST box alone... I would not. Without the timing available today (EZ, Smarty, Comp, VA, etc), that we have all gotten use to... the TST box is a smoky dog by itself. It's a strong, smooth fueling box but.....
I proved this to myself when I sold my EZ, 2 weeks before my Smarty was delivered. Not much fun after being spoiled by the stacked set up. Would be better with stock injectors but still weak on the low rpm end. JMO

I'm in agreement with RJ here. The Smarty/TST stack is great. The TST is a slug down low on its own and on the higher settings it tends to be very jerky if your pedal action isn't perfectly smooth.

With the Smarty added you can drive normally and the additional fuel that the TST adds on top is as smooth as can be. I can't speak for the TST/EZ stack, but I would imagine it would be very similar with repsect to the top end driveability.

I would not change a thing if I were Mark.......
except maybe figure out how to get the VP-44 to deliver all the fuel the TST COMP asks for...without a cavitating shudder!
