Smarty sr? Smarty jr? Quadzilla? Others? Which one?

Have not been on here in a while and good to be back. Today my truck threw 3 codes. p0192 p0237 p0483. I will be taking it to my dealer this week. I took my quadzilla xzt box off so that I won't take any grief over it being there. My check engine lights have come on and off over the years too much. Usually it goes back off on it's own. I am leaning toward a different tuner instead of this one or maybe one to go with it. Most I tow is 10k and not often. More a play truck than anything. All stock with a cold air intake. Has 35 that I would like to set the speedo to. I have 6 inch stacks that don't mind smoke at all. No motor work no clutch work no tranny work. Stock. What do you guys like in tuners. I did a search but could not find the answers. Maybe I need to look more. So far I am thinking the smarty sr. Help me out here. Thanks.

Smarty SR, stay on the lower sw#, like sw3/sw5 max, 5 will slip your clutch.

I would think that the smarty sr would have the feel of much more power than the xzt tow box?

yea the smarty sr. will have more power than the XZT box. you have to ask yourself though do you plan on using all of the power the sr. has ? if not i would go with a jr.

First, open your wallet and take a look. Second, put your right foot on a scale. If the wallet is smarting and the foot only itches now and then, go with the Smarty Jr. Else, jump on the big dog side of the fence.

I would have to say dont bother buying the sr unless you want to upgrade your clutch, lift pump.

If you dont plan on a clutch upgrade go with Jr. I like mine but the only problem is you will have to find your own favorite adjustment. The instructions dont help out and its a common discussion on here. Sr is straight forward on the settings but Jr is not.

Does the junior have the pod? The thought of turning the power down at times sounds like a good idea on a trip. What have people seen for mileage with it turned down? Wondering if it does anything.

I havent checked my mileage because I idle too much. I did notice my overhead meter went up a little but ever since I did my transmission upgrades it seems to be down a couple gpm. Smarty jr does offer the POD also.

The smarty junior sure does look like it would do everything I need for today. I have 80k on and will be going off of warranty this year. Ya never know what I may come up with in the future. If I were to have injector or turbo issues the stock ones would be gone. The smarty sr I could grow with. Tough call but you guys have some valid points.

If I could do it over again I would go with the Sr. I didnt predict transmission problems and now I have a much better transmission that could have handled the Sr. If you can afford it go Sr!

You might just want to plan on a clutch soon if you are doing any power upgrades because my clutch in my G-56 did'nt even like the 30hp level. There is not anything like the old 5600's.

No clutch problems with the xzt box which is rated 60hp. Too many connector issues with it for me to want to put it back on. That is what set of my check engine light this week. I had dielectric grease in all fittings too. I was watching the smarty on youtube last night. Sure can smoke. I would imagine that can be calmed down if not playing. Truck is a pooch with not programmer though. Bores the snot out of me.

Maybe you got a good clutch, but like all the other guys said you should just bite the the bullet and get the SmartySR. and be done, you never know what will happen down the road.
