Smarty/smoke not impressed.

Everybody talks about how much the smarty smokes and how much more HP they have acceleration is much better but we couldn't get the back tires to break loose off of a 20 mph roll (2006 lonestar edition qc 4x4 factory tires) Maybe it was the transmission slipping or something. as for smoke there was hardly any just puffs of it on acceleration but next to none once the turbo lit. I'm glad I experienced it first hand before I went and bought one. I think I'm leaning towards the Bully Dog PMT. Injector rattle was quite a bit louder on level 9. Keep in mind this was on a completely stock truck minus muffler and cat. Any advise to unleash the full potential of the smarty? (other than a tranny)

Use the wild tq mgmt and aftermarket turbo version.....less tq mgmt should help get sideways and more boost maximizes power.....pretty sure you should be able to destroy your trans in no time....

And i'm pretty sure that you shouldn't be getting smoke with the turbo lit....

As far as not breaking the tires on a SRW that should be easy. Depending on what catcher your running you could be just slipping the trans, but the driver should notice that. As far as smoke, Ive got no clue as how the smarty smokes on a stock truck. But without a FP gauge I would guess maybe a lift pump would help proivide the fuel and give you a little more go.

if you're on the stock tranny, and beating it like it sounds like you are, start saving some money, cause you're gonna need it to have a rebuild done..

Smile no problem making smoke here!!!

I'm still using an earlier version of the mild torque mgmnt software. I have a hard time NOT blowing smoke. If I shift around 2k I'll get a noticeable cloud everytime. I see a slight haze even after I've built boost. This is with the 60hp program loaded. In fact I'm going to try one of the newer softwares in hopes of clearing up some of the smoke.

I can't break the tires loose unless it's wet. I think that's mostly because of my training wheels and I can't build any boost from a standing start.

Not enough smoke on level #9?!?!?!

Mine has too much smoke even on level #7. Driving around as careful and slow as possible it still smokes a lot.

I am guessing you ran SW#9 with the mild TQ and are woundering why it doesnt run very well. Well just think you added 170+hp to a tranny that cant hold over 80hp. It was probly slipping like crazy, and it smokes when it is lugged, but to lug it you have to be able to HOLD the power first. Try turning it down, and you will feel more power.

Mine on 7 doesn't produce all that much smoke and has the "haze" as the others describe. I have stock tranny and didn't break traction either at rolling takeoffs. BUT...

This morning we had rain; combine an early am commute without coffee and the required attention to driving with smarty still on 7 and turn the corner and behold...

the smarty literature supplied with every smarty and on the website clearly states level 3 is the highest safe level for a stock trans.

i can fog out a city block if i jump into it. below 30mph and i start taking mileage off the tires. upgrade your lift pump. the smarty will drain everything with a stock fuel system.
upgrade the trans.

Yup, I would drop fuel presure with the Smarty on just SW3, before the FASS of course.

I can't believe what I'm reading!

I would classify my smoke as BARELY controllable! I can black out about 50 feet at at time behind me in any gear over 2nd.

Something must be amiss, if you lived anywhere near here I'd give you a demonstration.

My truck smokes like a 12 valve with a #0 plate and the AFC full foward, not sure why that one wont smoke....only thing I can think of is simply this:

Tranny slipping excessivly = LESS load on the engine = less fuel = less smoke

Throw a vb and 91% converter and she will roll the coals!!
