Smarty Revo 101

Okay, I updated my Smarty (thanks Bob W!) with the new Revo software.

I have a few questions, pretend I know nothing. (For those of you who know me, be quiet! )

What is a Speed limiter?

What is Torque management for?

Baiscally, I have read the Smarty web site, but why would someone want to adjust these settings?

Is stock Smarty Catcher settings 0-9 good enough?

What are you all running?

What is a Speed limiter?
It's just that, you can limit your vehicles speed. Anywhere from 25 to 250 mph. Whether it be for a "valet" mode with a top speed of 60 or for drag racing with a limit of 160.
What is Torque management for?
Torque management is for driveline protection found in autos. Basically controlling how strong and how early the torque curve comes on.
Baiscally, I have read the Smarty web site, but why would someone want to adjust these settings?
The function of the Revo software is to fine tune the software to fit your truck, to tailor your truck to run at peak efficiency.

Is stock Smarty Catcher settings 0-9 good enough?
They are good for the everyday driver. However if you want to get the most out of your truck then revo is for you.
What are you all running?

Thanks John!

I appreciate it.

Can you elaborate or explain the torque management theory? Is this controlling the trans line pressure? Shifting points? Lock up? I am really confused. I had no idea the ECM had anything to do with the trans. After nearly 300,000 miles You would think a guys knows his truck!

So when you say "sw3 tq 2 duration 1 timing 3" You are saying you run Smarty on #3, Torque management on #2, duration #1, Injector timing #3? How is the drive-ability on this setting?

What other settings have you tried and what were the results?

I really appreciate the Smarty 101 lesson.

Torque management on our trucks in a brief explanation is. The MPH and RPM must be at a certain range before the ECM will allow the truck to fuel heavily. So just because you tromp on the skinny pedal the ECM is not gonna let your truck receive the full fueling until the MPH and RPMs are up. It only allows a percentage of fueling to come on until the needed parameters are met. With a tuner like smarty you have the ability to adjust Torque management form stock to very little at all.
So when you say "sw3 tq 2 duration 1 timing 3" You are saying you run Smarty on #3, Torque management on #2, duration #1, Injector timing #3? How is the drive-ability on this setting?
This is where cruise is the smoothest, which results in the best drive-abilty for me.
What other settings have you tried and what were the results?
I've tried out just a few other settings mostly on sw9 & 7 but that's just to get me up to speed faster and help spool the turbo quicker.
I really appreciate the Smarty 101 lesson.
^^^^hope this helps ya

I put in the SW#4, and modified it with torque man of #3, injector duration of #3

The truck seems to spool-up just a wee bit slower than just using the SW#4, and my smoke level is down. I haven't used the cruise yet, but I suspect that it will be better daily driver tune. I stack my programer with my edge comp drag box.

I tried the cruise yesterday with the smarty set on SW#4, and modified it with torque man of #3, injector duration of #3. Works pretty decent on cruise and still is reponsive enough to feel like you have the smarty in. Kinda removed the most of the sensivitive throttle issue that the catcher gives you. So far I like the new settings.

I am runnin just about the same as the first parameters given. I ended up there by trying to dial out the sensitive pedal on order to keep the tranny alive. I had the smarty before the revo and to fix the jumpy cruise I installed a vacuum line restrictor to the cc unit. Worked great. Now with revo I need to take it out as it's a little to slow to respond now. Lol

Oops ignore my sig. Gotta go look now to see what revo I running And update the sig. Sorry

OK I am running sw3 tq3 tm2 dur default

This^^ isn't an option for those of us with the electronic CC.
