smarty question

i borrowed my friends smarty to try it out to see if i liked it or not. i put it on number 4 the egt's climbed very quickly. if i install me bd super b special would the egt's go up or down and would i need to put a better intercooler on right away or could i afford to wait a while. i am just trying to figure out what i need to do because i have a 40ft enclosed race car trailer that i tow. any thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated

You should download the manual for the Smarty... Could be J-06, S-06, S-06 POD or S-04 as I have no idea what you have borrowed...
http://www.madselectronics.com/download.html

I am fairly sure you want to be using the Odd numbers unless you have some other programmer that is modifying the timing. The Even numbers by default do not change timing..

The other item is the actual version of software that the Smarty has installed in it? That could change the function to some degree..
Like if it has a TNT version loaded the timing levels work different..

What year is your friends truck? What model smarty?

Do you have any idea what software is in it?

If it has the newer Revo software you can adjust many items..

If it is the older 4.11 software it matters what version as they came in mild to wild..

The only way to make more power, is to burn more fuel. More burned fuel in the same tight space will cause EGT's to rise. There's no way around that.

A bigger intercooler will help some, of course. But it won't bring it back to stock numbers. But just expect to see higher temps there.

If you already have advance timing, in my limited experience, the temps will spike very quickly. I had a RoKTECC sensor (advance timing about 2*)on when I first got my smarty, and even on the even numbers(no added timing), it spiked to 1400* very quickly.

Took the sensor off, and has been much better.
