Smarty Question

I have read that the Smarty enables the high idle feature... does this mean the truck will idle up to 1000rpms? Or is this the adjustable idle feature using the cruise control to idle between 1100 -1500 rpms? I asked my dealer to enable this for me and they were clueless... so I either need to find another dealer, or wait and get a smarty and do it myself.

it enables the manual idle. (the 1100-1500 one)

I had to take instructions to my dealer. Plug in " ," select " ", etc. They knew nothing about it.

All 3rd gens that can be enabled(04 and up)will have the feature with the smarty.Turn the cruise on hit the set button, adjust the speed with the right side buttons up or down.

only the automatic trucks will do it that easily. the manual trucks will need to jumper the ecm pin 22 to ground to allow it to happenhttps://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...=high+idle+mod

pardon me for asking a patently obvious question, but what exactly is a high idle for, and why would you want that feature?

buy the Smarty straight off this website and help support the site. Click on the "Shop DTR" at the top of the home page. You will find the smarty there.

http://store.dieseltruckresource.com/smtubymael.htmlthere's the link for dtr store and smarty.

high idle allows for faster warm ups, faster charging, running a pto if you equip the truck.
