If you're just looking for a moderate power increase and a box that doesnt have any major "bells and whistles"...then the XZT is tough to beat! I love mine...

The SMARTY seems to be the best thing going though right now so its up to you....

Another thing.....price! $300 versus $700...or whatever they cost now?

Go for the Xzillaraider module. Not much more in price ( call Lary at DTR store ) and about the same to install. Very goo people to deal with. Lary and qzilla!

Also, put your truck info in your sig. You can fill it all out - click User CP top left side of screen.

Going only by your original question, I'd lean towards the Quad. Even with all the problems I had with my Xzillaraider, it was an awesome towing box, great torque curve and good EGT controll.

I've got a 2006 with an AEM Proguard 7, torquetube, rokktech and now Quad "tow" box. Just got back from a trip to Eastern Oregon over the mountain 3 hrs each way and WOW. Really like the power and mileage went up to 20.5 keeping it at 65mph. That was the problem on the way back, not being able to keep the foot out and passing the slow pock's.

I also have a 12K# tow hauler and would recommend the quad box.

if you go with something that deals with timing remember your rokk. timing sensor. it might be to much timing? i think both products are great, it really depeneds what it is that you are looking for

thanks guys. i am not looking for a drag racer. just a little more power for pulling and not having to worry about the tranny. most guys on here say the quad box is pretty safe for the tranny. i think mild tuner help these truck run better anyway. not to say the "F" word,my uncle has a 01 7.3 and has a superchips tune. 300 thousand miles and has only had the tranny replaced. oh, its set on the 120hp tune.

Hi Justin

I pull a 13K 5er and love the low end power of my XZT. WARNING now I want more. I recommend you decide on a buget and your objective. Then pick your toys.

shortbed i see you have tranny mods. i just don't want to trash the stock tranny. i don't have that kind of on hand cash to dump into the tranny if something happens. i am not looking to "pay you play" if you get my drift.

I totally agree with you. You can not beat the XZT for the price and towing. Quad did an excellant job with this product.

You have a good point, but you can easily have a smarty on level 3 and not destroy the stock tranny. If you are even remotely thinking about getting into more serious mods in the future, i would say get a smarty and only buy a chip once. if you arent going to mod your truck past a DLer and other small stuff, the Qzilla will probably accomodate your needs.

After modding the same parts on my quad a few times, I will only be modding the same part on my truck once. Otherwise you will be paying for the same part twice (like a downloader).

I have been running the Quad Std for 9 months, and have no problems. Running 60hp, the trans seems fine, 100hp will drive through the converter unless you roll into it. Another bonus is that my mileage has went up.
