Smarty problems
Hey i am having some problems with my smarty. When i put it on my truck, when letting out the clutch you can feel a knocking and hear it in the clutch? But when put back to stock theres nothing. Then when the smarty on 90 horse it will slip in higher rpm range. Truck just turned 8000 miles, 2007 dually, have intake and 5 inch exhaust. Also i can hear a knocking at idle doesnt sound normal any ideas guys? Thanks for the help!
smarty has different timing. what levels are you running? odd or even numbers? try for the sound on an even number program. what you are hearing is injector rattle. there are new programs on mads website to reduce the timing rattle.

With the stock clutch, Smarty program #3 is about the highest you should go. Mine slipped on SW 5 too. Check the Mads website for, stock turbo and injectors, and you will notice the updated software is different. There are "108", "208" and "308 versions. You should use the "208" version which is a mild upgrade for torque. If it still slips try the "108" version or upgrade your clutch to a South Bend Con Ofe like I did.
The stock clutch is a real drag.

the stock clutches are not going to hold alot of power for very long. I would not expect any clutch to hold high settings on something that has a 170hp tune. my truck is loud too when its cold the motor rattles and pings, but ive had no issues with it. I wait until the engine is warm before I run the truck hard. I never get out when it is cold and floor it. I think with any vehicle you are asking for trouble doing that
my truck was an 05, so my numbers may not be the same as you. the total was about 1050 around in there. this was not a dual disc just a decent single. if you plan to highly mod your truck get a dual disc south bend or something similar. if you want some mods I would still get a south bend. a good clutch will run you 1k. then most places get 300 to install around here local. hope this helps you. it will be grabby no matter what it is. so if you tow trailers alot, it is not fun with a strong clutch they have aggresive engagement
I run my smarty on sw9. thats where it stays. It will smoke pretty good from a dead stop and when its in overdrive. Ive had stacked modules on other trucks that wouldnt roll what this does. my truck dynoed 461 with just a smarty no other modules. stock turbo/cp3 injectors. I thought those were decent numbers. ive seen stock trucks with stacked modules dyno alot less than that also
zilla,
so you don't have driveablity issues with the heavy duty clutch? I heard that's it a bit more of a challenge when backing up trailers and just normal driving...how much more effort is it to push in hold? My wife is a little thing and drives the truck every once in awhile.

The MU 1947 Con OFE G56 holds 450 hp, 900 ft. lbs. torque
It Requires the Hyd-X-.750 upgrade it's a heavy duty replacement hydraulic assembly Fits years 03-06 (new juice setup with less peddle pressure than stock) The Con OFE - Uses 1 Performance Organic & 1 Feramic Facing
It holds my Smarty on WILD #9 no problem. Easy to back up, and plow with. Quite smooth....

It sounds like it's working correctly.
