Smarty Jr. Update?

Bob or Marco, is there any news on the Jr.'s power levels 2 and 3 almost being the same? I don't want to run my auto trans that high of torque for towing.
Thanks

ah64id said,
Just got home from the dyno... the results that Rob received on his truck are what I received on my truck. SW#2 and SW#3 appear to be the same software. the curves are identical, on both truck, and even with beta #4 software.

On my truck I put down (average of 2 runs).. corrected, not sure the %, it was automatic by the dyno based on temps at the time of the run. I did noticed that on any run the IAT was about 120*, 93* in the bay, my pyro never went above 1200* (usually 1100* on 1st run and 1200* on the immediate 2nd run)... Boost was 28-31 on all runs (I usually peg at 34)

323/590 stock
337/693 SW#1
330/673 SW#1 Beta 4
428/800 SW#2
432/806 SW#2 Beta 4
433/801 SW#3
433/807 SW#3 Beta 4

As you can see negligible difference in 2&3 in std and beta software.

One thing I found very interesting on Robs and my trucks was that overall hp on SW#1 was within 10 of stock on my truck and within 2 of stock on Robs truck, but in the 2400 rpm range there was a 55hp gain. The Tq increase is HUGE thou, 100 ft lbs.

The other thing that I noticed odd was SW2/3 was essentially the same power accross the board on the std and beta software, but SW#1 was quite different. The curves are the same form 1500-2200, but at 2200 the beta starts to loose power over the std software and at 2700 is almost stock.

I have MANY dyno sheets to scan and upload, but it may take me several days, I have a super busy week ahead, but I will get them.

One thing we never got to do was dyno my Smarty Jr, we had to use Rob's for both trucks since mine failed today. I got home from work and went back to stock on my truck, then went to upload the std software to the Jr and it gave me a memory error, it seems I have the first ever memory failure of a Smarty... and it happens on the day were supposed to dyno it.

This is to try to answer some questions ahead of time. Both trucks are 05, NV5600, 3.73 trucks. We both have boost/pyro and Rob has FP. Rob's truck has an AFE intake, and a Aero 4040XL muffler, its otherwise stock. I have an Amsoil nanofiber DIF and no muffler, other than my 2 extra fuel filters and high flow banjo's I am stock. Rob never saw below 6-7 psi of fuel pressure, fuel was not an issue. We never saw over 30psi of boost on any level, so we left power on the table as I will easily see 34 when towing. Both trucks had 285 tires with 70psi in them...

Note on the amsoil drop in filter. I pulled the filter minder down on the first run, even after cleaning it last week... but then I remember I drove some very dusty roads this weekend so did a quick cleaning on before the next runs.. I never pulled it down more than 1/8" the rest of the time... this is an air flowing filter for the stock box..

I will have to see if we can get Robs hp/tq numbers, I just noticed that the printout from his 8 runs doesn't have the exact numbers, but you can see the answer in the curves... Other than stock (where he put down about 10 more hp and 10-15 more ft lbs) our numbers were within 1%. Due to timing I am the only one who ran Beta #4.

So a word of caution to those of you that are towing on #2, it appears to be a 430/800 software... thats a TON of power to stress a drivetrain with, especially an auto.

Bob, I will try to swing by tomorrow to get my Jr to you... I will be in Tacoma for the night with a helo...

I'm confused. I have the Jr. and I run it on level 2 90% of the time and the truck runs great... Is it the same as level 3? I've never ran level 3, because the smoke on level 2 is almost too much. Not that I really care, but I won't waste my time downloading level 3 if it's the same.

Do an advanced search (titles only) for Smarty Jr. Look for the thread "Smarty Jr. Owners-Please Read." This thread should answer any questions you have.

Well, if levels 2 and 3 are the same maybe Bob and Marco should leave #2 alone and bump #3 up to 130 HP.

I’m sure they will get to the bottom of this; however I’m sure that on my truck #2 and #3 are not the same.

Only the dyno knows for sure.

Has anyone noticed that level 1 only adds 10 or so horsepower but increases torque 100ftlbs give or take. i thought it was suppose to be 40hp. on level one. weird, its advertised at 40hp. theres definatley a lot of issues going on.

I just purchased my smartyjr last week and pulled the quad std box off.sw#1 40hp feels like stock with better throttle responce not even close to quads 65 sw#2 pulls like a frieght train gotta be 100hp. I liked the quad std ran it for 70,000 km but smarty changed my tire size egaged my high idle and lowerd my egts by about 200 deg at wot. Now I just need a 40 hp tune for towing like I thought I purchased?
