smarty or edge
i do not know what to get. smarty jr or edge. all i want is better fuel econ and better towing. truck has k/n air filter with the air tube and a mbrp exhaust. tranny deep pan and removed the cat thank you for your help patrick

The power is so much smoother... I can't personally comment on the Jr, as I have the SR, however, the difference between it and my edge was night and day.
Plus, it has a better re-sale value when you decide to move up to the Sr

Oh, yeah.
Not to sound biased here... the majority of the DTR is pro smarty. On it's defence, the edge is not a bad box, and it has a lot of good features, like shift on the fly, a turbo timer, and gauges. It is not as adjustable as the smarty, per se, but it is a decent box.
As for that K&N, I have heard that it lets large particles in, causing a condition called 'dusting' the motor. I don't have proof for you, but if you do keep it, I would inspect the inside of my breather tube for dust every so often.

and edge all the way. i like to be able to shift power levels on the fly..
just not a big fan of the progammers i dont like to sit there and program it.
but when i was in larmie i smoked an 06 cummins and he wanted to re race and he tuned up his smarty and he came back with the win. darn it....
but my buddies cummins his smarty gave him computer problems......

I have an air raid drop in, personally, I like that one. AEM brute force is a good one, I'm sure others will chime in.
I would look for an oil free/dry re-useable filter if I had it to do over again.

These are good subjects to research, there are days of info on these very subjects. Its pretty clear what ppl like. Many new ppl ask the same question repeatedly. Not bashing you bud just enlightening your search.

thats where i get lost. i dont want to oil my filter like you have to on k and n. i put up a post about cold air intake and lot of people suggested this home depot box. go through the threads and it was called cold air intake.
