Smarty driveability/smoke/idle/high idle/etc?
I now have the Superchips back on my truck. I definetly miss the Diablo's awesome power that my clutch could not even handle. The smoke bugged me enough to go from RKL, to Extreme, to Performance tune. Smoke on performance mode is actually pretty livable. Then I noticed the idle (regular and high idle) was really rough, like a big cammed race motor loading up while at a stoplight and in gear. I put the Superchips back on.
How is the smoke with the Smarty? Does it have the high idle option? I know performance is a trade-off, but I want my truck to run as smooth as stock, but not so slow I dislike the vehicle.
I can get a reflash w/o quesitons. I am thinking of selling both my Superchips and diablo stack and getting the Smarty afterwards. This way I would keep the warranty, that I will probably never need because I keep my EGT's under 1250-1300 while towing.
Smarty keeping key counts along with the customer service is radical. Neither Diablo or Superchips has that support or anything near it.
Thanx for any input, sorry so long.

Smarty is awesome.. I don't know about the high idle my truck came with it?? But the smoke is totally controlable... With the regular programming smoke was minimal even with #9 beta not so much but on the lower programs it's alll good... But with my twins I can't get much smoke and have yet to see over 1200 degrees pulling!!! even 16k

ive ran 3 different tunes and it doesnt constantly smoke. if you want it to smoke it will but it is very streetable. I run mine on 9 all the time also. the wild program is a little smoky at times but it doesnt bother me. the beta tunes and out of the box ran fairly clean unless you floored it from a dead stop it or lug it out. ive never got codes or had issues out of the smarty. there are tons of different tunes geared towards what you do

Thanx for the info guys. What about high idle? I use it like crazy. I hit one light a few times a week that can be like ten minutes. Also, here in the high desert, during the sumer, I often end up idling with the A/C on.
Thanx.

Are you worried about losing high idle that you already have if you run Smarty?? Dont, because I didnt lose mine. I had it enabled right after I bought the truck and learned about it on here, then added the Smarty 2-3 months after that. I use high idle every single day.

If your looking for a programmer with minimal/controllable smoke then you should steer clear of the Smarty, it's by far the worst out of the four programmers I currently own. Here's how they rank from best to worst when only taking smoke into consideration:
FlashPaq
Triple Dog v2.4.1
Diablo Predator R16
SmartyCR Beta 4.4
I'd highly recommend you get the Bully Dog Triple Dog instead as I feel it's currently the best programer available for my truck.
Good Luck!

Thanx for all the great info guys. I use my high idle every day, love it. I also appreciate all opinions, so thanx Megabomb. After doing a lot of driving yesterday, I realized that I really like the driveability of the superchips. It is like a stock truck with quite a bit more power. Only problem is it is not that much power compared to what is avaliable. Having a chance to reflash and then go to a tuner that does not erase key counts is attractive to me.
Thanx guys, I would appreciate more info.

I have a Smarty. And live close to you. Wanna take it for a test drive? I have the aftermarket injector/stock turbo/mild program in for less timing rattle. Smarty actually gave me the high idle feature.
