smarty and edge
i have a dege juice with the monitor and really like the monitor part of it verses all the gauges. i finally got a smarty pod the other day. If i leave my edge off can i still use it as a monitor with the smarty? other delima is i have a set of twins on the way, where dose the edge read boost of off? Might have to go to gauges if i can pick up a boost signal.

I am wanting to go the same route as you are and I have done some extensive searching on the stack. I would think that you would be able to use your edge as gauges except for the boost it reads off the MAP sensor. I have read several posts from Omaharam (I think that is who it is) that has the stack and it worked well for him. I believe he is running the even numbered programs on the smarty and letting the Edge J/A do the timing. If I remember right I don't think he is going over level 3 on the Edge, but don't quote me on that. Hope this helps.

I know that if you run the edge with the smarty, you have to turn the timing OFF on the smarty. (revo)
I had that stack for a day, and did not have enough time to play with it, so I just pulled it off. Ya gotta play with it.
As far as the gauges go, I think the newer updated edges read the info pretty good. If you don't have the newest version of software, send it into edge to update. You can get a turbo timer added in, also.

myself, when i went to the smarty i decided to take the edge off and go to the tst pda49. the tst is more expensive but you have all the gauges from the edge, have more settings to play with and then some. i actually did that because i was told that the smarty is a low to mid range programmer and that the edge is as well so seeing the benefit of both would be minimal. my truck ran well on smarty(4.2 beta) sw:6 and edge set to 5(hot) but it was a whole lot down low and you could feel it taper off mid 3rd. the tst is a mid to upper as explained to me by mark chapple(owner of tst, which convinced me to buy one, and ill never look back.
if your dead set on the edge then i would say dial the edge right up to 5, start on the low evens and run it up and see what you find. then try the same with the odds. that way you have full edge capabilites on demand.
