Smarty 1/2 power and Mach 6 injectors for towing?

Just wondering...

What would be the effect of stacking a Smarty at 1/2 power with an Adrenaline box--or other boxes--while feeding larger injectors like Mach 4 or 6s? The desired effect would be to use the 1/2 power setting to cut fueling to the injectors drastically and then use the Adrenaline to 'fine tune' the power level as desired for towing. When running empty, bring ECM back to stock or #2 for use with the Adrenaline for some fun.

Would a single turbo like a HTT 62/71/13 SS be able to cover this much difference in power? Would it be too laggy for towing?

Myself, I'm looking at running either a set of Mach 1.6s or 4s with a Garrett GT3788 and a SBC Con-OFE. The Adrenaline might be on the shopping list too. I tow a 10k toyhauler a few times a year, so I don't want to go too big on the injectors, but the idea of the Smarty at 1/2 power came to mind to tame a set of big injectors.

I've tired towing with mach 6'ers and things get pretty hot. This was with a set of 40/3B twins. They are too smokey for me and my trailer gets covered with soot. For towing use a set of 125 jammers. They are cheap. Save the machers for empty cruising. Towing with the 125 sized jammer your at almost 500rwhp. The garrett you have selected is too small and I would go bigger if your towing as heavy as you say, IMO. You could put a 3B on the bottom like I have and then you would have a winner. Good luck.

I've tried towing the other day for the first time with just a corn pro open trailer bumper type and just empty and EGT were stayin' around 1150 1200 just cruising about 60 mph so i can't imagine towing a car!! That was with smarty on stock and everything else off

Well, I can't say how you would be for temps and spool on the single, but I leave my Smarty on setting #3 or #5 and the TST off for towing. I don't really get over 1200EGT's.

Putting the Smarty on half power will bring you really close to stock power with M6's. Now with close to stock fueling and a 62 turbo, it will be laggy and you will need to turn the box up some to help spool the turbo. Adding the box instead of the ECM and full M6's might cut fuel milage if on the mid to upper setting as they are going to fuel harder down low. I know if I just cruse empty with my TST on even the lower settings, it drops my mileage by 2+ MPG.

I would set the smarty on #3 to take some of the sensative peddal away and keep the rpm's up to spool the turbo better. Just my thoughts.

I've been telling guys for 2 years that the best towing/power combo is Industrial Injection Dragon fly injectors with the 62/71/14 turbo. We have come to find that the 3.54 gear trucks spool slower than my 4.10's, but still a awesome combo. I tow 15k# through mountains with top egts of 1300*& the turbo spools fastest with a load, I get the needle moving at 1300-1350rpm & it takes off, at 1450-1500rpm I have 20psi. The Adrenaline has enough adjustments that you won't have egt issues at all.

You can tow with any injector and the adrenaline box, the defueling is so smooth, and the processor is so fast, you could literally tow with any injector and the adrenaline.

I haven't hooked up my pyro for the Adrenaline yet. I tried to take the pipe plug out of my HTT 3 piece manifold & ended up breaking a ez out off because the plug was so welded in there. I've been running the mechanical gauge. I am gonna have to try the defueling out.

Thank you all for the input.

I forgot about the II Dragon Fly injectors. I'm not interested in the Jammers nozzles though.

I believe I will probably go with Mach 1.6 sized injectors instead of bigger ones like Mach 4s so I won't kill my towing ability. I have no budget for twins, nor the time or skill to put a set together myself. I mentioned the Garrett turbo because I can get a smokin deal on one, otherwise I would buy the HTT 62/71/13 SS.

I read here more times than I can count about people recommending going one size bigger on injectors than you think you will need. I thought about installing the Adrenaline to compensate for smallish injectors when I was running empty having fun.

The Adrenaline sound like THE box to get regardless of what injectors you run.

I have pics in my gallery of a couple of loads I've towed with Mach 4.5's, never really thought about using Smarty 1/2 power. The only problem towing was on really long grades, if I didn't hit the hill at around 75 it would get hot. I later realized that towing with cruise control kept egts under control better than my right foot..

I only use Smarty #3 whether it be drag racing or normal driving.
