Small shot of nitrous?

OK just wondering how safe a small shot of nitrous would be on my truck right now? I have stock heads and studs. Going to get get headwork as soon as I can get enough money. There is a pretty big dyno coming up and was wondering if i sprayed a small shot like 50 or so how much it will help or hurt ? Just throwing around the idea i just want to get 500 or more and dont think I will be able to without some laughing gas

With twins you are already pushing your luck... I'm running a small shot now with a built head and I am still leary about pushing it!

Brian, you didn't even need the nitrous to blow your head gasket with a stock head

Yep, Stock head with ARPs was not enough to handle 65psi boost (approx 68psi drive pressure) and an easy shot of 80/20 Water Meth

Nitrous on a diesel only helps if you are overfueled, correct?

Are you running some Source Automotive Twins, or some home brew?

If you have stock clutch, I don't think you can put down over 450 anyway. It will just slip unless you make 500 HP at like 3500 rpm.

I doubt with a HO pump you'll have enough fuel for Nitrous! Secondly...Your head gasket WILL fail! No drugs unless studded and ringed!

Nitrous will add HP even if your truck isn't leaving a trail of smoke 10 miles long.

It's simply easier to make power on the bottle than with more boost.

If nothing else, the intercooling effect of a small shot will alone add a modest amount of HP, never mind the oxidizing effect.

I'd discourage advanced timing with ANY amount of nitrous.

Hohn, I've seen 3 trucks lacking in the fueling department never accomplish anything worth mentioning on Nitrous. Some Minor power gains , but if your shooting for power goals, i really dont think without fuel your doing much...Maybe 25..50 RWHP.. I may be wrong though! Just throwing out my theory

I was just saying Nitrous will always add a little power, even with a small shot. I consider any hp improvement to be "worth mentioning", but then again, i've been pretty small-time in that dept all along. There are at least 100 guys who were over 600hp before I was over 400. Heck, I'm probably not even there yet!

I agree that it's far more effective to add fuel.

But if you're at 485 or so and shooting for 500, even a tiny little shot should get you there--esp with a single charger.
