I don't get on this site much and I don't post much. I just noticed the Ontario section, so I thought I'd drop a line.
I live an hour East of Toronto with my wife. We bought our 01 2500 CTD auto last January. It came with a holley blue pump, an Edge controller and 'large' PRP? exhaust. Recently, we had some bodywork done on the drivers door bottom and the pass box side above the wheelwell. Then we had a spray in boxliner put in called "Reflex". In the future I'd like to look at the RV275's and a 'built' transmission.
Does anyone have any good info on towing regulations in Ontario??? I hear a lot of different umours about CVOR, weight capacities and safety inspections. I was thinking about adding sleeping, cooking, bathroom capabilities to make my truck/trailer into an RV to avoid the whole mess. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Thanx,
Mark

An Ontario Forum? Sweet!
I'm a new guy here, from Kingston, Ontario. I am soon parting ways with my 2000 extra cab 2500 4x4 diesel. :( I'm still not sure why - 415,000km later that truck is like a good friend. But, it's not been without some big repair bills here and there and it's time for a change.
Should have the new 2007 Mega Cab 2500 4x4 with the last of the 5.9's by mid-week. First big decision will be tires... or rims and tires. Still undecided, but I know the half worn all seasons will be useless in the snow.
Been too busy at work - not enough hunting this year. Plus we've got a 13 month girl old at home so the last year has been fun. Busy, exhasuting... but still fun!

I owned my own Environmental Consulting business for 7 years, then sold to a larger firm 2 years ago. Same work - specializing in residential furnace oil spill remediation, although we do some other projects as well. I am now Regional Manager for the company who bought me. I also have a small equipment rental business on the side. Got 2 - Kubota KX71 mini-excavators and 2 Case skid steer loaders - a 445 and a 420, both on steel tracks. Gotta have a diesel to move that stuff around.

The 420 and the 445 are both skid-steer loaders ("bobcats" as they are commonly referred to, although that is a specific brand name). The 420 is 60 HP / 3 ton unit and the 445 is a 80 HP / 4 ton unit. I've got steel tracks on both of them, as we use them most in the winter.
I'm usually sound asleep my 10pm but it seems I can't sleep well these days. Too excited about the "new" mega cab. Have to wait until Fridayto get it. 3 sleeps!
My wish list is pretty long... tires, maybe wheels too, Husky liners (ordered), seat covers, stereo upgrade, air intake, exhaust, guages, tuner... Wouldn't mind a hood scoop either, but not sure about that one. What I do know for sure is I'm gonna have to pace myself![laugh]

I don't think there are any members down around my area of London though, looks like I'll be running this territory down here LOL.

Right on! Many bombed out Diesels your way? I'll see the odd Big 3 around here with exhaust and maybe some gauges. So either they are stock with a few mods, or they are hiding something LOL.

Black 06 maga cab, 2500, 4X4, high riser cap, stock except kleenoil by-pass oil filter. I had an 01, 4" high flow exhaust but traded when I got the 06. (miss the sound)

loud is good, unfortunatley, is attracts the attention, of EVERYONE, OPP, MTO, ETC...ETC... (know from first hand experience) but I wouldn't have it any other way.:cool

Back when I was driving my 99 Dually with the 5" straight dumping out the side infront of the duals. I never had OPP, MTO or ETC bug me. A couple times I was worried the Police were going to ticket me (accelerating quite hard and not noticing them to my right, LOL) but they never even bothered.
I think it might be different once I install stacks on the 01 I just bought though....

thats sweet i think side pipes out the side are going to be the next thing cuz everyone has stacks for me i probly going to dump it out the side more noise and smoke for people lol

We used to install side pipes on our pick up trucks back in the 70's (can anyone say "redneck") I think stacks take up too much of the box, so side pipes would be an interesting option.
bullfrog5.9
04-07-2009, 11:03 PM
doing a side pipe is cheap and easy to do. u can tho make it look good by putting a big tip on or even a hole bush burner from the front fenders all the way along side the cab and having a quick turn out b4 the rear wheels same as a old corvette sting ray
Dinner
04-08-2009, 07:32 PM
Yea that would be neat. I'm not sure what I'll do for my 01, I'm still running ideas through my head.
I was thinking of doing duals out the back like on gassers (straight back) except they would be like 5" instead of 2 1/2,lol

04-09-2009, 01:55 AM
sounds interesting two shot gun kind of pipes stright out the rear. if ur truck was lifted u could buy the pipes that act like steps for getting in ur truck. u could hav two tips on ithere side of the truck but hav them exit b4 the rear wheels
i still dont know what to do pipes i not sure if i want just a down pipe or a hood stack or stacks in the box i not sure what to do ithere

It would be a problem running the exhaust from right side over to the left side, far enough in the front to pick up dual side pipes. Straight pipes out the back is not an option due to trailer/carbon build up. Side pipes would look better on a "slammed" 2 wheel drive, not a 4X4.
bullfrog5.9
04-10-2009, 12:29 AM
yes a slammed 2 wheel would look good with side pipes. if if i owned a 2wd id lower it

Yea that is true. I don't tow very often, but those times I do I would probably get my quad / the cargo all covered in soot by the time I'm done with this 01[laugh]
Looks like I'll be going with stacks just for giggles, probably run a muffler though since I have to get the 01 E-Tested:(

evey time i got e test they never said anything bout muffler all they did was look at while running and that was it

That is true, A muffler really isn't a device for Emissions. And I do remember my 99 being e-tested a couple years ago and they never checked for a muffler (granted it had both muffler and resonator).

i see now some place will hock up diesels and some just still look at them and dont care if u got muff or not long as it goes past the cab its good to go
Dinner
04-27-2009, 06:41 PM
Yea, that's the main law I remember reading from awhile ago, was exhaust had to exit past the cab.
I think I'll run my 01 straight and see how I like it and how much attention it grabs me from the Police, MTO, etc. If I get stopped often or get a ticket I throw some sort of muffler on there. Not too concerned about smoke (once I start modding it), more so just noise since around here people don't like that, lol.

i wouldnt worrie bout the truck being loud around cops and MTO if u make smoke and nosie then ya i can see them busting u and saying put muffler on. plus if ur a door nob to a cop then i bet he will give some dumb ticket bout u having stright pipe if ur nice and com to them then no worries i
