Interesting, maybe my next PU truck will have sliding doors.

I had a buddy who was a researcher or something at the US Patent office. He was into MX racing, and in his spare time, liked to review the various patents the major motorcycle manufactures would file WRT to their emerging technologies.

And more interesting in how they prevented the other companies from taking advantage of some of these advancements - and making sense of some of the manuevering done to come up with a legal "workaround".

I'm not sure that a patent means they will actually do it, nor am I convinced that a sliding rear door for the rear access would be that bad. sounds kind of yucky right now, but consider how much easier the rear passenger egress would be

I was thinking about what a slider would be good for and the only thing I could come up with is when parked. Yup with a slider, you can park in tighter spaces and now have to worry about your back seat passagers banging up your door. Also you don't have to worry as a driver getting hit by the back door when someone opens it.
