What size socket to remove Pitman nut?
Went to install stering brace and need to borrow a socket to remove the pitman nut from the steering gear. The gearbox is leaking... Will try the cap first... If someone knows what size socket I need to borrow chime in. Thanks!

IIRC it is 1 5/16 inch.
I assume you have an '03 or later truck. You will need a very deep 1 1/4 socket to install the shaft extension or a box wrench. I had to use the box and used another large box to use as an extension to get the torque needed (estimated).

I had just a little slack in the steering wheel, about 1 1/2 inch. the brace removed about 1/2. I then made a very slight adjustment to the sector and removed almost all the slack.
The adjustment on the sector really should not be made on the truck. If it is gotten to tight it will cause the steering wheel to be stiff and will not recenter own its own and you may not be able to back it off.
The way I adjust mine, if you want to try, set the wheels stright ahead. Use a box end wrench on the lock nut and have an allen in the adjusting bolt. Loosen the lock nut making sure the allen does not move. Very lightly tighten the bolt with the allen a small amount, you do not want to feel an increase in resistance. Test drive after an adjustment to see if it is better. Repeat if want to but be carefull not to get it to tight.
You mentioned that you have a leak. Will you be replacing the seal? If you take the steering sector out to replace the seal. I can give you the directions on adjusting out of the truck if needed. Just send me an email.
