Single rear wheel 3500

Does any body know if they will offer a 3500 Regular cab 4x4 with single rear wheels for 04'? I know 03' didn't offer it. I hope they do or I will have to get 2500. I just wish the 2500 had over load springs like 3500.

Re:Single rear wheel 3500

Rob,
First, welcome to the forum. Looks like you are out of luck looking for a '04 R/C 3500 with SRW. For H/D Rams it goes like this:
1. All Reg Cabs have Long beds (allows use of only two wheelbases)
2. All 3500 Long Beds have dual rear wheels (unknown reason)

Checkout www.edmunds.com for 2004 information. Looks like you are "stuck" with a 2500. Good luck.

Re:Single rear wheel 3500

Thanks for the help, thats what I thought. I cant beleive they offer it for quad but not regular, very odd. Is the deference between 2500 & 3500 with HO Diesel just the springs? And if so can I just instal the helper springs.

Re:Single rear wheel 3500

I think if you do a search on this it has been discussed before. The HO has the same suspension and rear end less the overloads and a lower (dunno this for sure) weight rating. You don't get the cow lights on the roof either(whoopee :. DC probably does not offer it because it is not as popular. The quad cabs are the biggest sellers so they will produce them. HTH

[/quote]If your going to buy new then have your dealer build you one...Get a 2500, add cab lamps and the overload leaf kit for the 3500. Then to finish it all off and have everyone scratching their heads have them change the 2 to a 3 in the lettering- easy stick on badges all of which is an easy order for the parts department. You can tell people you have "special" friends at the DC factory

Re:Single rear wheel 3500

Matt400,
Thats is funny! I was thinking of doing that, lol. I will see if they would put overloads on and if it won't void warranty.

Re:Single rear wheel 3500

I was thinking of going the other way. Keep my truck and pull the 3 and replace it with a 1. Then I could be a 1500 4x4 HO DSL.

Re:Single rear wheel 3500

I did add a "Cummins Powered" decal on the tailgate, reads like this now on the drivers side....

DODGE
Heavy Duty
"Cummins Powered"

All are in shinny letters and looks good.

Re:Single rear wheel 3500

I'm not sure you can just "add" the overloads from the 3500 to the 2500. The spring stops are probably welded to the frame and adding them (if you can even get them) would likely void the warranty on the frame.
