I tried searching, but couldnt find anything. How do you take the silencer ring out of a 3rd gen? Same as a 2nd gen? I tried prying the snap ring out with a screwdriver, but I couldnt get it to come.

I used needle nose and a hook pic, you can poke something sharp in the gap of the ring, get ahold with the needlenose. (if they are the same as the 2nd gens).

Keep working it, you will get it. It took me a lil while myself:)

I finally got it. Its my dad's 05 that I was working on. I showed him how restrictive the intake tube was and I think he likes the idea of smoothing it out :). I didnt get a huge difference in turbo noise, but its there. Thanks for the help.

http://dodgeram.org/tech/dsl/FAQ/turbo_faq.htm

That site shows the silencer ring and how to get it out (just dont give up, it will come out). It will increase the whine/whistle of the turbo slightly.

You didn't get much noise????????, I keep getting told my truck sounds like a jet coming down the street, and interior noise is significantly more (not complaining, I love it)

You won't get much more noise from removing the ring, but the baffles in the intake tube are what really "silence" the turbo. Remove them, or get a torque tube and she will sing!
