silencer ring
Does anyone have an easy way to get the silencer ring out of the turbo? I've tried but its stuck pretty good! Any help would appreciated.

No easy way...just a couple small screwdrivers. Try to get a screwdriver in under the end of the clip, pry up and use the other screwdriver to get under it from the side. If your doing this to a '97 it should be easier than my '03 cuz your turbo sits higher along the engine and is easier to see into. I had to use a mirror to see what I was doing.

A nice pair of those 90° needle nose pliers help too. Just try to lift up the one end you can get. IF you start prying on it, it gets tighter in the hole, you need to try to pull it in toward center as you walk out the retainer.

it does what the name says, quiets down the turbo... you will get more of a whistle with it removed. as far as your truck, im not sure i dont know that turbo so couldnt tell ya if it has it or not, im sure someone with more knowledge will shed some light. good luck

Thanks guys i never thought of the pliers or pulling the ring in instead of just prying on it! I just was thinking would a little screwdriver bent at a 90 help any or would it just be a waste of time?

I dont know anything about the silver bullet but if I had to take a shot it the dark I would say no, your turbo doesnt have this ring. I belive it is only on the stock turbo. I heard this ring was put into the turbos per Dodges demand to quiet things down.(who likes a quiet turbo) I'm sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong.
