a 'shutter' when the trans shifts into O/D.

I just picked up my first CTD after dreaming about it for 2 years.

Anyways, just like any used vechicle it has its fair share of problems,
The major problem is a "shuttering" or shaking motion when the truck shifts into final overdrive.

when I am on the throttle thru the gears it shifts fine.
and it shifts thru all other gears fine.

its usually only when im speeding up at a slower rate while it shifts into final overdrive.

its a 2500 96 Auto 4x4 Ext Cab , and alot of miles.
its only had one owner until I bought it today.

anyways, some help would be great.
thanks.

Typically the shudder you feel is the torque converter trying to lock up. The shudder can be an early symptom of wear to the torque converter clutch.

Nice ride BTW!!!

What you are describing as shudder is as stated above, the T/C, the truck is probably already in OD. Lock out OD and drive the truck, if it still does it, it is probably the TC for sure. The only way to "FIX" this is with a new converter. But, that being said you "might" be able to bandaid it for a while with a new VB from someone who gets the line pressure up and also opens the exhaust port so the TC locks up a whole lot faster. I suggest that you call Dave Goerend at 563-778-2719.
Tell him Phil sent you. He is the owner of Goerend Transmissions.

Try adjusting your TPS it may be kicking into OD at too low of a mph.
I usually keep the OD off engaged until I'm going over fifty and intend to keep going at least that fast. It will make your tranny last longer.

Can anyone tell me the location of the 'TPS' ?

I read the instructions above, but it doesn't tell the location of it.
or else I missed it.

Front driver side of the engine, near where all the throttle linkeage and cables go, you will see the connector.

Follow the only wires that go to your injection pump.
