Shutter Issue Resolved????

I had my tranny rebuilt with the stage 4 ramzilla package from PATC, and a Pro Torque single disk converter about 9 months ago and it was fantastic. Banged into every gear, TC held. About 5 months ago it developed a shutter under light to mid throttle, in OD when the TC was locked. Tried a few places, no one could figure it out. Finally a buddy of mine (Jeremy from LIPD) and I did some research on the older pre 98 dodge trannys and found a similar problem, and it could be rectified by recalibrating the TPS (throttle position sensor), which is the APPS (accelerator pedal position sensor) on my 99.

On pre 98 it is calibrated to .8 to 1.2 volts and can be tweaked up to 1.4 or more volts to command an earlier lock up. We took apart my APPS and noticed that it is calibrated to about .55 volts, says it right on it. You can recalibrate it by rotating it, either clockwise or counter clockwise, to increase or decrease the voltage. to check for the voltage ground it on the battery, and place a probe into the light blue wire, with the key on, but motor off, you should get a reading. Then remove the 2 screws that hold it in, remove the metal sleeves in the mounting holes, and it should give you enough play to rotate it, to achieve a higher voltage. Mine is adjusted to about . 75 volts, no more shutter, and lock up is at about 50 mph.

FYI the APPS is right over the injection pump, under a black plastic cover, where the throttle cable comes in, and you have to remove the 6 or 7 screws on the inside of that cover to get the mounting plate for the cables to come off and reveal the sensor, which is held on by 2 screws.
