Shut off solenoid replacement

Can I put a normally closed solenoid valve on the fuel line going to the injection pump? Then I could chunk my worthless shut down solenoid and plumb in an extra fuel line!

Don't see why you couldn't...

My idea was to attach a servo onto the manual shut off.

I thought about that also, maybe using a starter solenoid, but I haven't found a way to rig a momentary switch to my cool down timer...

That would be bad for the pump.

With a normally closed valve when you shut it down its going to starve the IP, it probably wont die instantly. When the fuel in the IP is used it will die. Problem I see is loss of lubrication when IP is starved.

Dave why in the world would you agree with him ? We are never going to hear the end of this, your an admin, go delete that quick.

Doesn't the pump starve just almost as much with the stock solenoid?

No. The stock solenoid just stops fuel from going from the main case into the distributor head.

So you wouldn't want it to turn off with the key?
