No, the 12 valves never had the ability to calculate fuel economy.

The 12v is mechanical fuel injection, It has no way to calculate fuel economy.

i know its mechanical but if mpg is distance/fuel. then i thought there might be a device that gathers data from your speed and fuel use. i dunno just a thought.

Its off of calculated consumption of fuel. There is nothing in the fuel system that tracks that. Closest thing would be the fuel gauge.

About 35 years ago, I bought a device for my boat that monitored fuel consumption in gallons per hour. Because I'm pretty cheap you can bet it didn't cost but a fraction of that. It worked fairly well for the 20 years I had the boat. I certainly learned how to back off on the throttle when it started showing 16 GPH.

You would need a flow meter in both supply and return lines to get an accurate rate of consumption.

How about just doing a hand calculation? The stock overhead units don't read accurate anyways.

That's what the $1400 device I linked to does.
It doesn't read in miles per gallon but rather gallons per hour.
When I first looked at one in 1996 they were only $400.
Almost bought one but thought it was too expensive, now it doesn't seem so bad.
Funny how inflation sneaks up on you.
