What should I choose/watch out for?

I'm in the market for another vehicle and I've narrowed it down to a 2004 H/O Cummins Diesel with 150,000 miles, or 400 HP 2006 Ls2 GTO with 21,000 miles. I know, 2 completely different vehicles, but both are hot rods . Gas mileage is probably better on the diesel, but what should I watch out for if the truck has 150,ooo+ on it? The car is in great shape but for the same price I could probably have an 11 sec 2wd quad cab. I'm gonna mod the hell out of the diesel if I get it! The goat will probably have to stay stock for a while. What kind of resale do high mile diesels have? What would you guys do? Point me in the right direction!

I'd get the CTD to tow the GTO to the track, and then race the truck....

I do like those GTO's and If I had the cash I'd get one.

That GTO will kill the cummins in fuel economy.

The diesel truck will hold up better over time, and always have better resale value.....

I got 18 city in my 05 4wd when I had it, I've been lurking on the GTO forums and they all are getting about 14-16 city. I bet I'd get more tickets in red GTO than black dodge

C'mon guys, give me some good reasons to get the diesel! I think it would be more impressive to see the diesel running 12's than the goat also! Alot more people would be impressed!

If you don't need a truck I'd get the low mileage GTO.I'm not to thrilled buying anything with a 150k.

Yeah as houndog said, 150K vs 21K... No brainer.

LSX's are known for getting great economy. Seems like camaro guys are getting near 30 on the hwy.

If you are getting 18mpg in the city in a cummins I'll kiss your you know what.

That cummins should get mid-high teens on the hwy and that GTO should get mid-high 20's on the hwy.

But... If you need a truck, get the dodge . Fast and good MPG for such a large truck.

Last edited by Rednecktastic; 01-04-2008 at 10:03 AM. Reason: change LS1 to LSX to generalize. that GTO has an LS2 in it.

actually you will get better mileage from the GTO. got 35.1 mpg on my z06, only thing i did was tune it, cold air intake and 160 degree t-stat and would still do 12.99 in the 1/4 on stock tires. fun to drive and easy on the pocket book.

Holden Manaro I think-the new G8 coming out will be from the same lines with ~350hp.
